Volunteer Policy
ONE ROOT GLOBAL NGO is committed to empowering and connecting the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. We believe that volunteering is a fundamental pillar of an engaged and compassionate society. Within our organization, learning from one another is central.
Volunteers not only play a supportive role, but also serve as active role models within their communities.
We recognize the value and power of voluntary work, and consider our volunteers
indispensable pillars of our services. Our volunteer policy is structured around five clear steps to ensure strong cooperation and sustainable engagement.
The Five Steps of Our Volunteer Policy
1. Recruitment
We actively recruit volunteers who identify with our mission and want to contribute to the Afro-Caribbean community. This is done through introductory meetings, clear
communication, and by creating a warm and welcoming environment.
2. Guidance
New volunteers receive personal guidance and are properly introduced to our work. We ensure access to relevant information, training opportunities, and a dedicated contact person within the organization. This builds trust and effectiveness together.
3. Rewards
At ONE ROOT GLOBAL, we do not offer financial compensation, but we reward our
volunteers in kind: through training, personal development, coaching, networking
opportunities, and involvement in meaningful projects. We show our appreciation by
recognizing their efforts and supporting their growth.
4. Retention
We invest in lasting relationships with our volunteers by involving them actively, utilizing their talents, and encouraging initiative. Regular feedback and expressions of appreciation are essential parts of our collaboration.
5. Exit Interview
When a volunteer decides to leave, we conduct an exit interview. We reflect on their
experiences, express our gratitude, and explore future possibilities for involvement,
whether as an ambassador or in other capacities.
At ONE ROOT GLOBAL, we believe in collaboration, community, and the sharing of
knowledge. Volunteering is a powerful means of connection and mutual learning. Together, we build a stronger, more conscious, and more inclusive future for the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.
