Terms and Conditions

Article 1 – Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions apply:

  • One Root Global NGO: the foundation/association registered under Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number 97725781.
  • Participant: any person taking part in a programme, event, training, workshop or activity of One Root Global NGO.
  • Volunteer: any person carrying out unpaid work for the organisation.
  • Partner: any organisation, company or institution collaborating with One Root Global NGO.
  • Donor: any natural or legal person making a financial or material contribution.
  • Website: the website of One Root Global NGO and all associated digital services.

Article 2 – Applicability

  1. These terms apply to all activities, events, projects, collaborations, donations, volunteer work and use of the website.
  2. Deviations from these terms are valid only if agreed in writing.
  3. If any provision proves invalid, the remaining provisions remain fully in force.

Article 3 – Purpose of the Organisation

One Root Global NGO is committed to:

  • strengthening Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Surinamese communities;
  • entrepreneurship development;
  • cultural awareness and heritage preservation;
  • socio-economic development;
  • education, networking and community building.

The organisation offers support, guidance, events, training and projects, but gives no guarantee of specific results.


Article 4 – Participation in Activities

  1. Participation in activities is voluntary.
  2. Participants are themselves responsible for providing correct information.
  3. One Root Global NGO reserves the right to refuse persons access to activities where their conduct conflicts with the objectives or code of conduct of the organisation.
  4. Participants must follow the instructions of staff, volunteers and organisers.

Article 5 – Volunteers

  1. Volunteers carry out their work voluntarily and without an employment contract.
  2. Volunteers must respect the code of conduct of the organisation.
  3. One Root Global NGO may end a volunteer relationship at any time if this is deemed necessary for the safety, reputation or operation of the organisation.

Article 6 – Intellectual Property

  1. All texts, photographs, videos, reports, training materials, logos and other content remain the property of One Root Global NGO unless stated otherwise.
  2. Materials may not be copied, distributed or used commercially without prior written permission.
  3. Materials supplied by participants remain the property of the original owner, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Article 7 – Photography and Video

  1. Photographs and videos may be taken during events for communication, promotional and reporting purposes.
  2. By taking part in activities, the participant consents to the possible use of such material.
  3. A participant who does not wish to appear recognisably in such material must state this in writing in advance.

Article 8 – Donations

  1. Donations are used to support the objectives of the organisation.
  2. Unless required by law, donations are not refunded.
  3. The organisation reserves the right to refuse donations that conflict with its mission, values or legal obligations.

Article 9 – Collaborations and Partnerships

  1. Collaborations are entered into on the basis of mutual respect and shared objectives.
  2. Partners act independently and are not authorised to enter into obligations on behalf of One Root Global NGO unless agreed in writing.
  3. The organisation reserves the right to end collaborations that conflict with its mission or reputation.

Article 10 – Changes

One Root Global NGO may amend these terms at any time. The most recent version is published on the website.


Article 11 – Liability

  1. Participation in activities is at your own risk.
  2. One Root Global NGO is not liable for indirect damage, consequential loss, loss of profit or reputational damage.
  3. The organisation is not liable for loss, theft or damage to personal property.
  4. Where liability is established by law, it is limited to the amount paid out by the liability insurance.

Article 12 – Force Majeure

One Root Global NGO is not liable for delays, changes or cancellations resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including:

  • natural disasters;
  • pandemics;
  • government measures;
  • technical failures;
  • strikes;
  • war or civil unrest.

Article 13 – Privacy and Data Protection

  1. Personal data is processed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including the GDPR.
  2. Personal data is used solely for carrying out activities, communication and legal obligations.
  3. The organisation never sells personal data to third parties.
  4. The full processing of personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy of the organisation.

Article 14 – Governing Law

  1. These terms are governed by Dutch law.
  2. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
  3. The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute by mutual consultation before taking legal action.
